Movie Themed Aprons

Watching movie is included in my hobby list. I basically enjoyed watching the action sci-fi like movies. Aside from the shooting affray scenes it offers, the special effects is one thing I like more. One best example that I truly love is the space opera...Star Wars. Yep, Star Wars is one of my favourite sci-fi movies ever. Back when I was a kid, my first watch of this movie was very unforgettable. I even fantasize that I am one of the character that plays a role in the movie. I strained mom to buy me a lightsaver (sword used by a jedi). Sadly, my mom won’t let me; she said that I’m too young for such toy.

From that moment of deprival I said to myself...one day I will start to collect memorabilia from the movie. And so it is...I get to collect like action figure, shirts, costumes, tumblers, books, and many more...here are some my collections...

When Star Wars announced that they will release a 3D version of the movie I get too excited about it. So, when the premiere came I never miss the opportunity of not watching it in a 3D cinema. First day of screening I’m there.

Sorry folks no cameras allowed inside the cinema.

As with the release of the 3D version of Star Wars, memorabilia are also being sold in the market once again. As I was searching what would be this time I will include in my collection...I was very happy to know that some manufacturers of aprons have created movie themed aprons.

I will get one for myself. Definitely!

Thank you for reading.

May the force be with you.

Superhero Inspired Aprons

Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Flash and Green lantern are you still familiar with these characters? I bet you do. These characters have been part of our childhood years. Actually, I grew up with Superman on my bedroom wall and Flash as my bed blanket. I even owned some of the characters action figure toys and my favourite one is Superman. (See image below)

Yesterday, when I was doing my studies over the internet to search for some Advance Geometry problem solving samples, I came across with this gorgeous looking girl posing at her kitchen wearing her superhero inspired the Wonderwoman custom apron (see the image below).

Cute right? Suddenly, all the memories I had when I was child like adoring and mimicking my favourite superhero character are all coming back. Then, I started to realize that if that girl found an apron printed and designed with its favourite superhero character, Superman inspired apron perhaps also available.

So, I started to search for it and luckily it’s available. I must have one!

Aside from Superman inspired apron I also found some of the member of Justice League custom aprons. (See the images below)

How about you? Who is your childhood superhero?

Vintage Aprons | Knowing the Past

Apron is really one of the most versatile clothing accessories that ever invented in history. Actually, you can find it anywhere. From your mother’s kitchen to professional career apron is there. But, did you ever wonder where this versatile accessory comes from? Like, who invented it, who wore it first, is it really made for women alone?

Way back in history, aprons are also part of men's dresses, men doing heavy works such as the blacksmith, leather smiths, metal forgers, cobblers, carvers, fish mongers and even the clock makers. (See images below) Such heavy and dirty works, sturdy apron was very useful for both protection and cleanliness. Aprons by then were made from thick heavy leather.

In 17th century when women start to wear aprons. Actually, by that time women who use aprons are the housemaids. The use of apron for them is to keep their dress clean because most housemaids by that time had only one everyday dress. And in 18th century, almost every woman has at least one apron. Regardless if you are a mother, housemaid or daughter, if you are a middle-class woman, you worn an apron. Aprons by then were a status quo. Wealthier women don’t wear aprons because they have slaves or servants to do the dirty works for them.

So, going back to my question...when was really the apron seen and who was the first person used it? Based from what I've researched, the first apron was cited in Middle-Ages. But if you are familiar with the Bible, apron was stated there. The Bible says that Adam and Eve, after realizing they were naked," sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons." - Genesis 3:7 *KJV – Amazing right? Ever since the creation of man aprons have been around. That’s a wow right? Me too I was surprised.

Well, I know it’s not really the aprons we know today but still apron is apron a body covering that covers the front part of our body.

I must cut my story here now because if we dig into details about the history of aprons that would take me a day or two to write it here. I just cited here some of the facts that interest me about the history of aprons.
